The other week I went grocery shopping with my girl. I enjoy taking her to the store with me. I think it’s important to go to the grocery store with your little one to get them acquainted to new places, to bond with them, and to help them develop healthy eating habits early on.
As I get out of my vehicle, I put on the boba wrap and get her in there. Personally, I love having her close to me when we are out and about, because if she isn't so many people gawk at her, which sometimes makes me uncomfortable. We get into the store, grab our cart, and start shopping. Within seconds I feel a little dribble down my leg, but think maybe the cart was just wet. Then, as I am holding my little one and bouncing her a bit in the boba wrap, I feel a wet spot on my hand. She had a HUGE pee, through her diaper.
I asked the greeter if I could leave my cart there and go change the diaper, so we laughed about it and I went outside to change my girl’s diaper. Yeah, there was pee on my shirt and all over the boba wrap. Baby got a fresh outfit but I sure didn’t - note to self: pack extra clothes for yourself in the diaper bag, too!

She’s all clean now. My options are to either drive the 15 minutes home to change or just get grocery shopping done…so we go back into the store to finish shopping. The not so glamorous parts of being a mom…As soon as we get in again, she’s starting to chew on her fist - hard. I grab as much as I can before she gets too fussy, then pay for what we have in the cart and book it out of there.
I get all the bags loaded in the car, and she’s still in the boba wrap. As I’m trying to get the watermelon out of the cart while still supporting my girl’s head, I’m struggling. A lady comes over and says she will help me, so she grabs the watermelon out of the cart, puts it in the trunk, and takes my cart for me, saying “I’ve been there before.” Although it’s hard for me to accept help sometimes, I really appreciated this lady helping me out and relating to me. This was probably our “worst” grocery shopping trip thus far, but I was so thankful for the lady who helped me out at the end of it!
I had to go back to the store after I fed her to finish shopping, but that's just life with a baby!
Sometimes you’ve just gotta laugh about things that happen when you have a baby, which is what I try to do when I think of this grocery store trip! #makelemonadeoutoflemons
How have you helped a momma out? Or mommas, how have you accepted help from a stranger?
Remember, whether you have “good” or “bad” outings with your little one, you are amazing and doing a fantastic job!
