Fall Activities with the Family

Fall is such a beautiful time of year, and a couple days ago it was officially the first day of fall (although in Alberta fall temps start around the end of August). I truly love and appreciate ALL the seasons. Yes, even winter. I try my best to find beauty in each season and enjoy my time during the season. As the leaves start to change and the temperature starts to drop, especially in the morning, I look forward to fall activities with the family.

For the past few years, I have gone to a corn maze. I have gone with friends, my parents, and sisters in the past. But this year, my husband, daughter and I went. This year was particularly special because it was the first of our fall activities as our little family. My husband is apparently really good at corn mazes (this was his first time going!) and knew exactly where we were the whole time. The other times I’ve gone to them, it's been later on in the year, so the corn was mostly dead. This time we went early, so the corn was alive and well, and we got to see the sunflowers as well!

Last year, my sister and I also went to a pumpkin patch. This year, both of my sisters, my daughter, and myself went! Although my little one won’t remember going to the pumpkin patch at just 4 months old, I still enjoyed taking her. Of course we got the cutest pictures of her with some little pumpkins, and took every opportunity to turn this fall activity into a photoshoot! I want to make her first fall, first Thanksgiving, and first Halloween special and have pictures for her to look back on.

This year will be her first Thanksgiving on the outside. Last year at Thanksgiving was when we announced we were pregnant to my siblings (check out “Sharing The News” to read more about that). Much to my husband’s dismay, I already bought her a cute Thanksgiving outfit, which I’m excited for her to wear in a couple weeks’ time! While this Thanksgiving will look a bit different, as my parents will be on a trip in Greece, I look forward to spending this time with family that is in the country.

I’m also really looking forward to my daughter’s first Halloween! We’re already starting to think of costumes. I told my husband that we are going to be that family who has matching Halloween costumes (and also Christmas pajamas). While she isn’t old enough to trick-or-treat yet, I still intend on dressing her up and going to a Halloween event put on in our community.

While all of these activities and holidays are great, I also look forward to slowing down a bit, relaxing at home more, watching the leaves change and my daughter grow. Everything seems so much more exciting this year, with a little one to share it with and make memories with!

What are you most looking forward to this fall?
